Allesley Park Needs a Cafe

Allesley Park is the second largest green park in Coventry and is visited by people near and far. This beautiful historic parkland, dating from the 1300's also has a public golf course, crazy golf, a children's play area and toilets. Tarmacked footpaths have been laid around and through the park to encourage easy clean enjoyment of the green space and locals have created a much loved "fairy garden" which attracts young visitors from afar.

What this jewel of a Park lacks is a Cafe/Tea Rooms; in fact anywhere to buy refreshments or anywhere to enjoy them in comfort, sheltered from the elements. These facilities are especially important for the frail and less mobile, who should be able to enjoy this park all year round by simply being there, taking in the view and interacting with the other park goers. A cafe would act as a new social hub for the whole community and encourage greater use of the varied outdoor space, benefiting the physical and mental health of all.

Given the historic nature of the Park, and Coventry being the 2021 City of Culture, we believe it is fitting that an attractive Cafe/Tea Rooms be built in recognition of the enormous value the park has to the health and well-being of the City and as a lasting positive contribution to that legacy .
