We believe that this new building is in a location that will negatively impact every resident in the local area. To build in a residential street metres away and on the doorsteps of family homes, a 7 storey, 5 storey and 4 storey building containing 225 student rooms would cause many problems for residents and is inconsiderate. It will block the light to their homes, create more noise pollution, rubbish and litter. It will seriously effect their standard of living. The student accommodation near by on gulson road has caused problems as the students throw rubbish, whole bin bags even plates with food out of the windows and the the walk way is constantly covered in broken glass, piles of vomit, and rubbish causing vermin. To impose this on a residential street of family homes would be completely inappropriate. Putting this additional pressure on such a small site so close to peoples homes and on a road that has an underlying traffic and parking problem will just exacerbate these issues. We understand that student accommodation needs to be near the University, but believe that this is overstepping the line and impacting upon a community that has already had to adapt to changes the University has brought. For these reasons we believe that this site should not be built.
We do support the regeneration that's going on in the city
and the opening of the river sherbourne to create the godiva riviera walk which will run behind the proposed student building plans and we would not oppose a student accommodation building of smaller size set further back off of the residential street
