The house is a significant building constructed in the 1930s by local builder E. Harris & Sons. Its overall proportions and fine detailing of the brickwork, make it one of the most attractive and important houses in the whole of Earlsdon. Cawthorn deserves to be listed, restored and preserved.
The owner's intentions are to demolish and replace this house - which has maintained an authentic 1930s look both outside and inside, from windows frames to the wallpaper - with two new modern dwellings, which are out of character with the eclectic mix of high quality homes in The Firs.
