This particular stretch of road is a busy route where sadly, a number of accidents have occurred in recent years. At various points along this section of the London Road, many children attempt to cross the road at or near the junction of Abbey Road and London Road (Although a pedestrian crossing is positioned in a section opposite a superstore near Riverside Close). Vehicles entering or leaving Abbey Road via London Road have to negotiate relatively high speed vehicles on London Road. A reduction in speed would reduce ‘risk’ along this section of London Road.
