The council have put forward plans to build 475 houses on the fields at the top of Browns Lane. Which will cross over onto the Coundon Wedge.
With these plans come many concerns and I am writing this petition to appeal these plans.
Property Market: People who live on Browns Lane and in the surrounding area have paid a large amount of money to live in the quiet country side and have nice views. This will ruin the views and decrease the housing value which will cause residence to lose value in their property which is unfair.
Area facilities: Due to the location of the housing estate there is not enough facilities in the area to cope with the increase of population. The local schools will be heavily affected as there will not be enough space for any new Children in the area. Coundon Court, Cardenal Newman are heavily populated schools with Children coming from Coundon, Radford and surrounding areas. There will not be enough local shops so there will be more cars on the road polluting this area.
Environment: Browns lane, Hawks Mill lane is surrounded by beautiful country side including the Coundon Wedge. If this housing estate goes ahead then there will potentially be 500+ vehicles in the area which will pollute the air, this will decimate the clean air in the area. Residence views will be ruined by new houses which as stated above, will decrease the property value in the area. The council are taking away our country side and it is time we took a stand to defend it.
Crime: With any new housing estate comes more Crime, this is a peaceful area, and this will be disrupted by increased crime. This whole area has been affected by a wave of car vandalism, Cars have been damaged or broken into and with the Police force decreasing in size due to government cuts the crime will continue and increase. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42977661 putting everyone, and property at risk. How does the council plan to tackle this!
Traffic: As everyone is aware the new amazon warehouse has opened on the Coundon Wedge road which has brought an increased flow of traffic slowing commute time right down. With the new housing estate going up the traffic in the area will increase massively and there will be no way of correcting this without destroying more of this country side with new roads. With more vehicles, brings more safety concerns. The area is full of young families/families. This will bring a higher risk of accidents and casualties.
The list goes on and on. I am calling for anyone who agrees with my argument to sign this petition and stop the council from ruining this beautiful area with a new housing estate.
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read this petition.
Best Regards
George
