The traffic congestion on Holmsdale is not acceptable, the street is gridlocked on a daily basis as a result of relentless traffic from both the Foleshill Road and Broad Street entrances causing significant nuisance, burden and expense to residents. The vehicles of residents are damaged on an ongoing basis as a result of vehicles trying to pass each other which is simply not acceptable. This often has resulted in residents not being able to leave the road to get on with their daily lives as everything comes to a standstill and often residents have to come out risking their own lives and navigate the traffic in order to clear the congestion so that normality can occur even for a brief moment. This has also resulted in noise pollution as drivers becomes frustrated and several incidents have occurred where drivers have resorted to abusive and physical violence which is simply not acceptable.
In order to address this issue, the residents of Holmsdale Road would like a one way traffic flow system implemented whereby no entry is permitted into Holmsdale Road via Foleshill Road, and that entry is only permitted by the Broad Street entrance into Holmsdale Road. The current Foleshill road entrance into Holmsdale Road is simply a fatality waiting to happen as drivers are reckless with both parking and entering/existing into Holmsdale Road. A number of incidents have occurred whereby accidents and near misses have taken place and continue to do so. Given that this area is populated with elderly and young families in the community, the Council must act in order to safeguard the public.
