20mph Zone for a Safer and Healthier Tile Hill Village

A Council led traffic survey in April 2016 and further resident led speed watch sessions in 2017 confirm what residents already knew about a general disregard for speed limits in residential areas by many drivers coming into and through Tile Hill Village.

The increase in volume and speeds of traffic in this area, where there are several schools and care homes, increases the concerns of residents and their children. Speed limit signs are generally ignored and accidents are no longer a rarity. A 20mph zone would require a Traffic Regulation Order, '20mph' signs, and Vehicle Activated Signs and/or physical barriers like central islands and/or chicanes (but not speed bumps).

We are asking for the following roads to become 20 mph zones: Station Avenue, Cromwell Lane (bottom end), Duggins Lane, Tanners Lane and Nailcote and Conway Avenues which have become rat-runs. Speeds between 40 - 60 mph along these roads is not uncommon and it is only a matter of time before there is a fatality. A 20mph speed limit would allow pedestrians to cross roads more easily and safely.

20mph zones can actually improve traffic flow by making it easier to exit junctions. 20mph zones reduce noise and pollution levels which can cause serious health problems for some. If you would like a safer and healthier Tile Hill Village please sign the petition. Thank you.
