This petition requests Coventry City Council urgently investigate the possibility for removal of the upper precinct escalator; so as to restore a strong element of the appeal of the original symmetrical 1950s Gibson layout, and provide worthwhile ongoing basis for establishing the core 'Coventry Precincts' as a primary cultural asset for the City.
(Existing Broadgate ramp to be retained as access for shoppers heading into/out of West Orchards Centre upper precinct terrace entrance. Approach consistent with potential - as/when resources allow, for a 'light-touch' restoration/1950s themed makeover, of core N-S-E-W precinct, precinct crossing, and main Broadgate frontage) .
